History

The Idaho Country Western Dance Association (ICWDA) was formed in 2004.

The original idea was to have a smoke free venue for new and experienced dancers, aged from 21 - 101. DJ music was chosen over live bands in an effort to keep the club music strictly country and to provide a larger variety of music for dancing.

Dance instruction was intended to be beneficial not only to the new dancer, but to the experienced dancer, by means of a friendly, non-overwhelming, non-ability threatening atmosphere. Assistant dance instructors were available to assist and encourage struggling students to succeed in dance and to have fun doing so.

An essential part of the original vision and desire was also to create life-long "dance-family" type relationships among fellow dancers.

Future Goals
We at ICWDA invision the club as a top-notch country western dance club. To acomplish this, we will teach at the professional-level and occasionally hire professional, high quality instructors to teach at our events. All lessons will start at beginner level and toward the end of the lesson there will be something added for the intermediate or advanced level dancer. We have seen that as dancers strive to better themselves in their favorite dance(s), the enjoyment of dance increases as well as their self-confidence on the dance floor. This is a benefit to all dancers at all ability levels.

Club Motto and Mission Statement

Our Club motto is, "Dedicated to Dance".

Our Mission Statement is as follows:

The mission of the Idaho Country Western Dance Association is to promote and enhance country western dancing in the Treasure Valley and throughout Idaho. Dances of primary focus include, but are not limited to, Country 2-Step, Waltz, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Night Club 2-Step, Cha-Cha and Triple 2-step. Pattern dances and Country mixer dances are all part of the fun; as are the occasional line dances. We believe that as dance skills improve, so does dance enjoyment. We believe that the medium of dance provides great entertainment, great social interaction, and will enhance the mental, emotional and physical well being of all those who participate."
